Aaron James was born into a family of athletes, music lovers, and creators! So, it's no surprise that his favorite sport, basketball, had much to do with the professional dancer he is today. As he was on his high school varsity basketball team his grades took a slight drop and his parents decided to take him off the team to focus on school work more. Being the competitor, he is, Aaron found he could use his competitiveness in dance. Entering himself and his group of dance friends in dance battles around the southeast turned into forming his own dance crew & then eventually turned into a full-fledged professional dance career. Sailor Drum grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina where she fell in love with dance through her local competition studio. Training in different styles and learning from teachers all around the world opened her eyes to the passion and possibilities of the dance community. Sailor went on to receive her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography with a Business Minor from East Carolina University. Now, she wakes up every day and gets to do what she loves. Her style appeals to the logic of school, the eloquence of prose, and the freedom of movement.  Dance has made her an open-minded and compassionate person who values the richness of diversity. She applies an interdisciplinary approach to her creative process; applying aspects of the subjects learned in school, personal experience, and relevant culture to choreography, lesson plans, and performances. Being able to adapt, and make long-lasting art is what makes her a valuable member of a global community. Credits include Merce Cunningham Trust, Agnes de Mille Trust, Andrea Guajardo, and more!

Deanna Headshot_edited_edited.png

Deanna Lanier's love for dance started in 2001 at the age of 3 years old. Deanna began her dance training in her hometown, Stone Mountain, Georgia, at TAZZ Dance Studio and continued to Carol Walker Dance Studio, Phusion Performing Arts, and Studio 1 Dance Company on their respective competition teams. Deanna won numerous awards such as Miss Xplosion Dance, Junior and Teen Miss Nexstar, and technical high score awards as a young competition dancer. During her sophomore year of high school, Deanna discovered her love for teaching dance when she served as a teacher assistant at Studio 1 and began teaching her own tap and hip hop classes at 17 years old. Following her high school graduation, Deanna dived into competition choreography, winning choreography awards and special recognition in just her first 2 years as a choreographer. Deanna had been trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, and musical theatre but felt she still needed more development as a performer and dancer. In 2018 Deanna took a step back from "studio" life and began focusing more on her quality of dance and style development. She joined her college dance team, Mahogany-n-Motion, and became Capitan after just 1 year on the team. While at Spelman College, Deanna had opportunities to choreograph dances for pageants and performances across campus and was recognized for her ability to incorporate a unique style and technique into her pieces. In 2019 as a senior in college, Deanna became an NBA Dancer and began her journey as a pro dancer. She has since taught specialized master classes, heels, jazz, and contemporary classes for competition teams and local Atlanta studios. Deanna is currently a bioinformatics Ph.D student at the University of Georgia and dances professionally in Atlanta, Georgia, when the time permits. Deanna is excited to rejoin the studio dance life and cannot wait to pour her knowledge and experience into the students at INSPIRE.
